TRIP OVERVIEW
This journey will take you through some of the most diverse parts of Tanzania, off the beaten path, to see aspects of ancient cultures rarely seen by outsiders, as well as a rich array of wildlife.
You will spend time with, and learn something about unique communities, such as that of the Hadzabe and the Sukuma people. They and the others are gracious enough to have you witness and even live some of their traditions - hunting, dancing, singing, and whatever religious practices they may be engaged in at the time. This will be a full immersion which means at least one full day and night camping in the communities.
Part of the expedition is to see the diversity of wildlife in the world-famous Serengeti, well known for its cheetahs as well as other big cats. It’s also where you can witness parts of the Great Migration as millions of animals move in search of water, sometimes running a gauntlet of crocodiles.
The expedition is a partnership between The Image of Africa and photojournalist and photography instructor Phil Carpenter, who will lead a comprehensive photography workshop around which the trip will be centered. It means the approach to activities ensures, as much as possible, a rich photographic experience with individual coaching from Phil.
What makes this experience so special and unique is the time you get to spend at each location, exploring photographic possibilities and living the culture, away from the tourist crowds. The aim is to leave you with as rich an experience as possible.
