TRIP OVERVIEW
We are inviting you on a very special journey through remote corners of Tanzania. When we say ‘remote’, we really mean it, because the itinerary that we crafted for you in collaboration with the renowned photographer Rena Effendi, is designed to take you to places that are under explored by researchers and travelers alike. Our itinerary is designed for adventurous travelers and passionate photographers who will become familiar with the work of Rena Effendi and her personal connection to butterflies.
On this journey with our team of esteemed expert guides and Rena herself, you will discover a vast majority of landscapes, ecosystems and cultures. Be ready to dive into the mystic Minziro Forest Reserve with the biggest diversity of butterfly species in the entire Africa. It is known that Tanzania has 24 forest reserves, and Minziro is the least explored forest reserve in the country. It is home to the Kagera River - a true wild African setting. Together we will discover places, which have not been seen by tourists. How exciting is that?
The route will also take us to the least known (due to its remoteness) National Park of Tanzania - Rubondo National Park. Rubondo Park is an entire Island located in the legendary Lake Victoria, one of the Great Lakes of Africa. There we will get a chance to see rare bird species, mammals, crocodiles, waterbirds, chimpanzees and other wildlife.
Visiting Tanzania, you can not miss a chance of driving through the legendary Serengeti National Park, which we included in the itinerary. We will be there during a very special time of the Wildebeest and Zebra Great Migration and a calving season, which is truly a fascinating spectacle.
We will pass through majestic Usambara Mountains, hike in the jungles, enjoy beautiful sunsets, sit at the fire listening to stories, observe butterflies during the day and the night, will feed them, and interact with the local people working on a butterfly farm. We will learn their traditions and way of life.
We will immerse ourselves into the rich history of the Swahili Coast in the town of Bagamoyo and visit local fishing villages.
We selected a range of accommodations that blend with each particular location and will allow you to have a comfortable rest at the end of each day.
We hope you read the following itinerary with enthusiasm and we look forward to guiding you through this epic adventure!
